PEL participates in DEFCOM 2009

DEFCOM 2009 was held in India Habitat Centre on 27 & 28 May 09. The event was organized by Directorate General of Signals under the auspices of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The theme for the seminar was Informatics for Defence Force Transformation and Technology Development in the Information Age.

The COAS, General Deepak Kapoor, PVSM,AVSM,SM,VSM,ADC was the chief guest. An exhibition was organized in parallel to the seminar wherein more than 25 vendors displayed their systems specific to Defence Communication and IT. PEL had the distinction of fielding three speakers, paramount among those was Mr Ashok Kanodia, our Managing Director who spoke on Defence Industry Partnership/ Cooperation for Force Transformation.

The session was electrifying as our MD was able to discuss issues pertaining to the subject with frankness and panache. Other speakers who spoke with great professionalism on technology were Mike Bendall of Raytheon and Akshay Sharma of PEL. Mike Bendall spoke on Data Interoperability with references to Taclink, Tactical Modem Products and Akshay Sharma spoke on Mobile AdHoc Networks (MANET). The sessions were well received for their content, eloquence and delivery.

PEL in partnership with Raytheon had put up an exhibition stall wherein a number of systems were displayed. EPLRS, Microlight ex Raytheon, ULSB MK III, 8/34MBPS RR, 2MB PCM MUX , Integrated Communication System ex PEL and ACU-T, ACU-1000, ACU-2000 ex JPS drew great interest amongst visitors. We were lucky to have a stream of important dignitaries like the Raksha Mantri, COAS, VCOAS, Western Army Commander, DG IS, DG WE, SO-in-C etc.

Their penned comments in our Visitors Book was heartening and speaks volumes on the standing of PEL in the Defence Industry in our country. The Seminar cum Exhibition concluded on 28 May 09.
